The DJI Ronin-SC is a smaller, more compact version of the Ronin, weighing in at 1.08kg, or 2.4lbs, which is nearly half (41% lighter) the weight of the original Ronin-S.
Despite its weight reduction, the Ronin-SC can support a payload of up to 4.4lbs, and DJI says its battery will provide 11 hours of use on a single charge.
What’s more, the Ronin-SC folds down more compactly for transport in camera bags and backpacks. There are also new design features, such as 3-axis locks on the pan, tilt and roll axes to help simplify the process of balancing your camera.
DJI has also added new functionality, both built into the Ronin-SC and through add-on modules.
Among these is a new Force Mobile mode, similar to Force Pro, which synchronises the movement of your smartphone with the Ronin-SC. With Force Mobile users can operate gimbal movements at distances of up to 82 feet via its Bluetooth 5.0 connection.
A revamped ActiveTrack 3.0 mode uses AI to track human figures similar to DJI’s drones and its Osmo series.
Other modes include TimeLapse, MotionLapse and Motion Control, which allows you to set movement paths by selecting up to 40 different points.
The same virtual joystick is back, allowing users to control the Ronin-SC remotely when it’s on a tripod or monopod.
